Can You Get Chapstick Stains Out of Clothes?
Stains caused by chapstick can be very difficult to remove. Chapsticks have waxy formulas which make them very greasy and hard to clean out of fabric. However, with a few simple tips, you should be able to successfully get rid of an unwanted chapstick stain.
Steps to Remove Chapstick Stains
- As with any stain, you should always try treating the chemical with a spot cleaner or gentle laundry detergent as soon as possible.
- Start by scraping off as much of the chapstick residue as possible before attempting to clean the stain.
- Use liquid dish soap or laundry detergent to spot treat the stain. Put a small amount of the liquid soap onto a damp cloth and blot it onto the stain. DO NOT rub or scrub the stain with the cloth.
- Let the soap sit for a few minutes before blotting it with a damp cloth. You may need to repeat this step a few times until the stain is completely gone.
- After the stain has been removed, wash the fabric as you normally would with a gentle cycle.
- If the stain still remains, it is best to take the garment to a professional dry-cleaner.
With these simple steps, you should be able to successfully get unwanted chapstick stains out of your clothes. Keep in mind that some stains can be more stubborn than others and may require professional treatment.
