Removing Permanent Marker From Clothing
Removing permanent marker from clothing can be a tricky task. Permanent marker, also known as indelible marker, does not come out of fabric easily. But don’t worry, all hope is not lost! Here are some helpful tips to get that pesky marker off your clothing.
Steps to Remove Permanent Marker
- Hairspray: Spray a generous amount of hairspray on the marker stain. Let sit for a few minutes, then blot with a paper towel or damp cloth until the marker begins to lift. Then, wash as usual.
- Rubbing Alcohol and Dish Soap: Combine equal parts rubbing alcohol, dish soap, and water. Then, dip a cotton swab or cloth into the mixture and gently blot the stain. Afterwards, rinse with cool water, then wash as usual.
- Vinegar: First, soak the stained section of the clothing in 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water for at least 30 minutes. Then, rinse with cool water and wash as usual.
- Nail Polish Remover: Dip a cotton swab or cloth into some nail polish remover and gently blot the stain. Afterwards, rinse with cool water, then wash as usual.
It’s important to remember that the earlier you start trying to remove the marker, the better your chances of success will be. Also, always test the stain-removing product on a small, hidden area of the garment first to make sure it won’t discolor or damage the fabric.
Hopefully these tips have helped you to save your clothing from the wrath of permanent marker. Good luck!
