Can You Return Clothing to Goodwill?
Goodwill is a great place to donate clothing items in order to help those in need. But what happens if you change your mind later and want to return clothing you’ve donated to Goodwill?
Returns Not Available
Unfortunately, since donated items are sold to fund Goodwill’s job-training programs and other services for those in need, donations are not eligible for return or exchange. Donated items are generally sold as-is, and the return policy of Goodwill does not provide for refunds, exchanges, or credits for already-donated items.
Gently Used Clothing Wanted
Goodwill does continually accept donations of gently used clothing. So if you’re changing your mind about something and would like someone else to have the chance to use or enjoy it, consider donating it to Goodwill instead of returning it.
Reduce Waste
Donating clothes to Goodwill can also help reduce the amount of clothing that winds up in landfills. This can not only benefit those in need, it’s also beneficial for taking care of the environment.
Check the Donation Guidelines
If you’re not sure what to donate, there are a few guidelines to follow. Goodwill accepts:
- Clothing and accessories for all ages and genders
- Shoes (gently used only!)
- Linens and drapery
- Non-hazardous household items such as small kitchen appliances, books, toys, and furniture
Non-acceptable items include mattresses, non-working electronics, and expired medical supplies. You can find more information about acceptable and non-acceptable items, as well as convenient drop off locations on the Goodwill website.
Donating your gently used items to Goodwill is a great way to help those in need, reduce waste, and clean out your closet all at the same time. Do your part to help those in need, no returns necessary!
