How to Wash Lens Cloths
Most cameras and lenses come with lens cloths made of microfibers. It is recommended to wash lens cloths to maintain the longevity and effectiveness of the material.
Materials Needed:
- Lens cloth
- Gentle detergent
- A sink, bathtub or basin with lukewarm water
Instructions:
- To start, place the lens cloth in the sink, bathtub, or basin filled with lukewarm water. Do not use hot water!
- Then, add a few drops of a gentle detergent to the water, and allow the cloth to soak for a few minutes.
- Finally, use your hand to gently massage the cloth, ensuring the water and detergent get into all the fibers. Then rinse the cloth under lukewarm water and let it air dry.
It is also important to make sure the lens is clean before using the cloth to make sure no dust, dirt or debris is trapped in the fabric. Washing lens cloths regularly is essential to keep its effectiveness in cleaning optics throughout its lifespan.
